Freshheads has played an important role in the further development of the Service Apotheek app. This renewed app ensures that patients order their medication on time and take it correctly. The app notifies you when your supply is running low and sends reminders for intake. You have direct access to all your medication information, and those with asthma, COPD, and diabetes receive useful tips and personalized advice based on a dynamic questionnaire. This helps prevent unpleasant complications and thus additional care. With the DigiD login, secure communication between the patient and pharmacist is possible. You can easily and safely read personal messages and ask questions in the app.
Growth rates are rising to hundreds
"The app has no frills," says Roel. "Only what is needed to manage everything around your medication use. We are fully focused on increasing the use of the channel." Together with an active field service that provides pharmacies with tailored guidance, national campaigns, and social media content, they succeeded in activating the use of the app. The number of active users increased by more than 600%. The number of online medication orders per month also more than quadrupled. More online orders mean fewer phone calls to the pharmacy, giving pharmacists more time for personal attention. It is that personal care that makes the difference. The medication consultations, usage instructions, and extensive medication reviews ensure that people are genuinely helped. The digital care then keeps an eye on things. Roel: "We are most proud of the increase in support for medication adherence, as it promotes the health of patients and reduces the risk of unpleasant side effects. Many intake schedules are created and medications are checked off." The app received an average rating of 4.6 stars from over 60,000 users.

Stakeholders on top of the ball
After optimizing the user-friendliness of the existing app, we started working on adding new functionalities. This is what Freshheads, together with Service Apotheek, affiliated partners, and their patients, began to explore: How can the app support healthcare and pharmacists? What do patients need? And how can we best safeguard their privacy? “We worked out ideas and made them concrete,” says Yannis Violidis, product owner at Service Apotheek. “When Freshheads developed a new feature, I could always rely on quality.”
