Good Job
One team, one mission
During each sprint, the Rover team from Freshheads in Apeldoorn collaborates with colleagues from Centraal Beheer. Gerard van der Kruijs (mobile developer at Freshheads): “By continuously validating the prototype, new insights and desires keep emerging, which we can neatly classify as must-haves or nice-to-haves. This works much better than via email or phone. On such a day, we keep each other on our toes and guide each other. You really need the whole team for that.”
Good Job
Opportunity in the market
A happy employee is doing a good job, because: more productive and less often sick. In no time, we built a simple prototype of an app that perfectly matches training, health checks, coaching, and courses to the needs of employees. Intended for the business clients of Centraal Beheer.
"Employees of our business clients often find it challenging to improve their job satisfaction. They are unsure of what they want or where to start, or they feel a barrier to asking their boss for permission," explains Susanne Nieuwenhuis-Nijsink (product owner of business services at Centraal Beheer). "However: employees who develop themselves and actively work on a good work-life balance are happier and take less time off than colleagues who don't."
And now? Now the testing of the app continues: with more companies and over a thousand employees, the research group is greatly expanded, explains Mark Hesselberth, mobile developer at Freshheads. "In addition, we are exploring with Centraal Beheer whether we can involve more service providers in sustainable employability to expand the offering. A chat feature with a coach, which we are testing with half of the participants during the first pilot, is also being further developed."

Behind the scenes, work is currently underway on similar modules, such as those for wall insulation. “If you try to do everything at once, it becomes chaos,” Violette explains. “You end up running around in circles. That’s why it’s important for us to regularly collaborate and connect at the office, like during our daily stand-ups. Focus, focus, focus. By prioritizing step by step, we are jointly developing a tool that offers great added value for Centraal Beheer’s customers.”
“ At Freshheads, they are honest: if they disagree with something or think it should be different, they just say so. And that’s the way it should be!”
RoadGuard
Corporate Start-Up
Centraal Beheer came to us years ago - roadside assistance needed improvement and they knew it could be better. Naturally, we're always up for such a great challenge! “We could really experiment back then, do what we wanted. It's essential for such an innovative concept,” says mobile developer Gerard. We developed various prototypes and a service platform. The corporate start-up got its own branding, separate from its parent company Centraal Beheer. Gerard: “Now, so many years later, RoadGuard has been incorporated into the Centraal Beheer brand. That's a fantastic compliment for us because the app fits perfectly with the new direction they, as an insurer, have taken.”
Instead of paying fixed subscription costs every month, RoadGuard customers only pay for the roadside assistance they actually use. So it's quite innovative and transparent.
RoadGuard
Incorporate
The collaboration between Centraal Beheer and Freshheads began around 2015. With RoadGuard, we are now in the final phase of our approach: incorporate. “The team at Centraal Beheer now has to do it themselves, without our help or interference,” Gerard explains. “Of course, we assist with that transition. We train and coach so they will really have insight into what the product entails from start to finish. We actually make ourselves unnecessary indeed,” Gerard laughs. “Then the circle is complete and we continue to work with them on new innovations and discover new opportunities.”
“ Besides working hard, at Freshheads they also take time to celebrate. If we won an award for RoadGuard, Freshheads would come to Apeldoorn with sausage rolls.”
