An online learning platform for the entire industry

In 2023, Freshheads and Opleidingsfonds Elektrotechnische Detailhandel (OFED) launched a new online learning platform for all retail employees in the industry. All the training they need comes together here: onboarding programs from the various retail chains, professional training from the industry, as well as product training from suppliers such as Miele, Samsung, and Sony. The custom solution ensures that everything the platform can and does is completely aligned with the goals of the industry and the expertise that employees need to build their careers.

OFED collaborates with Techniek Nederland, FNV and CNV Vakmensen. In addition, there are about 70 retailers, dozens of product suppliers and 18,000 employees who all need to believe in the power of the learning platform. How do you ensure that all those people with all those diverse needs, sometimes even competitors, arrive at a single product they all support? “Freshheads played a key role in managing the stakeholders”, says Annemarie. “The team made sure everyone was aligned, that we truly collaborated and put the needs of learners first. Because if they don't embrace the platform, it has little value.”

Result

10.000 users with a growth spurt

“The new academy makes learning a lot easier and more fun”, says Annemarie Arensen, program manager at OFED. In the first four months that the platform was live, 10.000 employees signed up on the platform, who together completed 58.000 training courses, and rate the platform with a 9. The affiliated retailers notice that job satisfaction is increasing and performance is improving.

In addition, the learning platform ensures more connection in the industry. The affiliated retailers are, in fact, competitors of each other, and each could have developed their own learning platform, but now they all benefit from one environment where everything comes together. This is how the industry as a whole grows.
