The care standards from Akwa GGZ – general recommendations for prevention, recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of mental disorders – are an indispensable guide in this process. Each standard is written and evaluated by a different working group, comprising various professionals with diverse roles (editors, readers, reviewers), in ever-changing compositions. This is followed by an official authorization process. Quite a complex procedure, which must follow the correct steps: after all, a new standard concerns the treatment of people. Working with loose documents is not an option, because it is prone to errors, difficult to manage, and slow. How do you tackle this safely, smartly, and efficiently?

Platform for collective standards development

An online platform to facilitate the entire writing and decision-making process and then publish standards: that is what we built with and for Akwa GGZ. Specifically for the roles and steps that are important in writing and authorizing new standards for mental health care. Working group members collaborate in real-time in the editor, ensuring they always have the correct version in front of them. And that's pleasant, especially in sensitive processes like these. At the front end, GGZ Standards is a database containing all available recommendations. Quick and easy to find for professionals and clients in mental health care.

People are creatures of habit. If you want them to use a platform, it must truly solve something. Janneke: “Thanks to Freshheads, I now think more in terms of goals. We explore the solution for that together. Everything is focused on the people who have to work with it. This way, we add something to the process, something that makes collaboration easier.” The foundation is in place, and yet we continue to refine. The world changes, just like the users of the platform. “Working on a care standard is intensive. And that's while time in this sector is scarce. By supporting professionals as well as possible with this platform, it helps them work better and more efficiently.”

Both work with a similar process to improve the quality of care. The platform they share is content-wise protected, but the structure and operation are the same. The platform now innovates twice as fast. Technically, we guide the collaboration in the right direction and spark the fire for improvement. Janneke: “SKILZ comes up with great ideas that I never would have thought of myself. So the collaboration is also valuable for my own thinking about the platform.”
