Attention all metal detector specialists, archaeologists, historians in explosive war remnants, and restorers! Because since last week www.erfgoedwerkt.nl is live. Through this new platform, specialists in the heritage sector can easily manage freelance jobs that match their expertise. Freshheads developed this platform, together with and commissioned by Vriens Archeo Flex.
Why this platform?
The work of specialists in heritage is often so specialized that it cannot be captured in a full-time employment. Therefore, many specialists work on a freelance basis, and it often happens that they, in addition to projects that match their expertise, also perform other tasks that do not do justice to their knowledge. Moreover, as a new specialist, it is challenging to find relevant work because organizations often rely on a fixed network. This new platform's mission is to make working as a heritage specialist as promising as possible. It is a wonderful mission that we at Freshheads are thrilled to be part of.
The first phase
Currently, the first phase of the platform is live: a freelance platform where freelancers can register, view assignments, and respond to them. We designed and built this environment in just 4 weeks, so we can now quickly validate whether freelancers need such a platform.
We kicked off the 4 weeks with a series of strategic sessions, in which we further refined the initial idea of our client Vriens Archeo Flex. Who is the target audience for the platform? Is that group large enough to build a business? We mapped the brand positioning and business model through competitive research, market research, drafting product statements, filling out the value proposition canvas and creating an impact flow. Rens, digital strategist at Freshheads: “Initially, Vriens Archeo Flex wanted a platform focused on specialists at museums and in archaeology. But during those strategic sessions, we realized the platform would be more future-proof if we broadened it. Now with ErfgoedWerkt.nl we are focusing on the cultural sector in general, which offers many more opportunities for future expansion.”

Next steps
We have already identified many opportunities to add extra services to the platform in the future. But first, we will continue validating the proposition for freelancers and laying the foundation. In the upcoming phase, it's the turn of the digital environment for clients.
