The pace at which we find information is changing rapidly: 'in the past' we clicked through menus and used filters, now we are increasingly talking to AI. That is a significant shift: from clicking to chatting. There are numerous AI solutions available in the market. But what happens to the information you put into it? Freshheads focuses on developing AI solutions with the Freshheads standard: reliable, secure, open, and transparent.
This phenomenon intrigued colleagues Kevin and Rens and they took the plunge with a proof of concept. They are exploring what this could mean for the platforms we are working on. Can you really find suitable vacancies with a smart chat just by saying what you're looking for?
From job listings to conversations
No more endless scrolling through lists of vacancies, just tell the chat window where your strengths lie and what you'd rather not do. That forms the basis of a conversation that is closer to your own nature. It is based on you as a person, instead of what an organization offers you. The AI recruiter thinks along with you and helps you by turning your input into a suitable option.
We expect this to fit well with how we will use digital services in the future. Many people want quick results that exactly match what they are looking for. A large part of the customer journey will probably take place via chat later. Therefore, we are already exploring what is technically possible and how this can be valuable for you as a visitor. In this way, we discover how chatting makes searching easier, which technical choices are important, and what benefits it provides for the user.
The first step towards an AI recruiter
Say no more. Rens and Kevin got started and created a proof of concept in a job environment in a relatively short time. In it, we can now:
Retrieve vacancies based on a conversation.
Quickly search for the best suitable vacancy.
Display a neat and clear result in the chat window.
Under the hood, our chat uses a combination of smart search and generation techniques to quickly find the best suitable vacancies:
First, similarity search calculates which vacancies most closely resemble what you are saying. Additionally, specific vacancies can also be retrieved directly via a unique ID.
These results are then used within a method called Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). Here, the AI first retrieves the most relevant job descriptions and uses them along with your question to generate the answer. This way, the AI recruiter responds both accurately and substantively well-founded.

After an internal presentation by Rens and Kevin, many people are enthusiastic! Therefore, we are now working on a live demo that shows how chatting with vacancies feels in practice. With this, we want to inspire organizations and explore together how this leads to better matches.
